Finding places where needed housing can go is an immense challenge In a county with steep terrain, extensive floodplains, and few easily developable sites. Camoin Associates conducted a GIS analysis to identify housing opportunity sites suitable for development based on a range of factors including proximity to infrastructure and services, vacancy and underutilization, natural and environmental constraints, transportation access, and others.
Housing Vulnerability Assessment | Housing Study and Strategy
City of Keene, NH
The Ashuelot River runs through the heart of the City of Keene and brings with it flood danger and risk to a substantial portion of the city’s housing stock. In seeking to identify the most vulnerable areas, the City commissioned Camoin Associates to conduct a vulnerability assessment that not only identified flood-risk housing but prioritized properties with residents least likely to be able to proactively address flood risks or recover from flood events.

The Mariner’s Way corridor in Old Saybrook serves as an important gateway to the town’s marinas. Still, it has historically been an underutilized district with some complex challenges limiting investment and development interest. As part of a revitalization plan for the corridor, Camoin Associates assessed the development constraints facing the district including wetlands, floodplains, brownfields, and others.

The City of Rutland has seen an economic transformation over the years that left the city with a perceived glut of upper-floor commercial space in its downtown area.
