The Challenge
The Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC), a private, non-profit corporation devoted exclusively to supporting the City of Detroit’s economic development initiatives, was seeking a knowledgeable economic development marketing company to assist with a five-month, continuous outreach program targeting existing local industries.
The DEGC had previously been using internal staff to schedule appointments and had an immediate need to “pump up” the number of in-person meetings to meet a fiscal year goal.
The Solution
The DEGC hired Camoin Associates to customize an outreach campaign for local executives in and around the Detroit metro area with the goal of arranging up to 85 face-to-face industry visits on their behalf.
Camoin Associates conducted outbound and inbound calls to local industry executives, gathered intelligence, developed appointment profiles for each scheduled meeting outlining specific meeting topics, and sustained appointment setting follow-up over the project timeframe.
The Impact
The outreach effort was designed to meet with executives and address specific company needs, plans for growth, and explain how the DEGC could provide assistance with any expansion plans. Additionally, the outreach identified “at risk” companies operating in the area that required immediate assistance from DEGC.
As a result of Camoin Associates’ success reaching company executives and creating a consistent schedule of in-person meetings for DEGC representatives, our contract was extended and we continued to do the work from 2007 through 2015. During this time, we scheduled over 850 in-person meetings for our client.
