The Challenge
Upstate South Carolina Alliance, a public/private regional economic development organization promoting a 10-county area in Northwest South Carolina, was soliciting proposals for a knowledgeable economic development consulting firm to engage in a 12-month contract to arrange a series of in-person marketing missions to different targeted geographies, both domestically and internationally, for the purpose of identifying companies with short and long term plans for expansion of their operations.
The Solution
Camoin Associates was contracted to provide trip planning across five trips for Alliance staff with a goal of six face-to-face meeting introductions per trip. The scope of work included a client orientation to cover project scope, client expectations and qualification parameters for each meeting scheduled. In addition, Camoin worked with the Alliance to identify potential areas for travel, based on our team’s real-world experience in outreach to geographies in both North America and abroad.
Research compiled targeted databases of companies around a 150-mile radius of a major metro for each trip. Outreach to executives identified companies with both active plans for expansion and executives interested to network for future growth opportunities. Profiles for each scheduled meeting were delivered to prepare the Alliance in advance of the appointment.
The Impact
This contract resulted in 33 qualified in-person meeting introductions with potential prospects that would consider Upstate South Carolina for their next facility expansion. The Alliance continues to contract with Camoin Associates to collaborate and identify prospects through in-person meetings as well as virtual hosted conference calls.
