Economic Resilience-Building
Preparing economies for a better future.
Economic resilience-building is the intentional, ongoing work of strengthening a community’s ability to anticipate change, adapt to new conditions, and sustain economic opportunity.
At Camoin Associates, we view economic resilience not as a single outcome or score, but as a dynamic system shaped by people and organizations rooted in place.
Our work focuses on helping communities and regions understand where they are today and how to take practical steps to build stronger, adaptable economies for the future.
“Building economic resilience goes beyond recovery. Communities must remain human-centered, focusing on what resilience means for residents, workers, and entrepreneurs: the ability to thrive, prosper, and clearly see—and access—opportunity.”

Case Studies: Economic Resilience in Maine
Camoin Associates worked collaboratively with two interns from the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service to conduct economic resilience case studies. The cases were the City of Lewiston, ME, and the Town of Stonington, ME.
Our research immersed us in understanding the conditions that contribute to economic resilience and in assessing, planning for, and implementing actionable strategies.
