Downtown Rutland, VT, once a hub of corporate activity, has failed to reinvent itself as a vibrant destination and has been struggling with safety perceptions, high vacancy rates, and lack of new investment.
Camoin worked closely with the Redevelopment Authority and Downtown Rutland Partnership on a new strategic plan for downtown. The plan was developed with extensive community engagement along with technical economic and market analysis, and streetscape design concepts – including a pedestrian-friendly overhaul of Center Street into an arts and entertainment destination.
The plan had an immediate impact with the City moving forward with the reimagining of the Center Street corridor through a Pilot project with new parklets and outdoor dining areas in accordance with the prepared concept plan.
